What I've been up to lately in Anime watching.

I'm not going to be exhaustively covering everything I've watched since my last update, there's simply been too much  It's just what I've most recently watched and what's current.

I added to watched listed two early 2010s serieses, Cat Planet Cuties and Is This A Zombie?.  Both are fun but the latter a lot of Politically Incorrect humor that hasn't aged well.

I also finally watched the second season of the original Tenchi Muyo OVAs and did another rewatch of Serial Experiments Lain.

There are a few Spring 2023 shows I started but decided not to continue.  For three of them however it's not that I considered anything in them Bad their appeal to me personally was simply limited, those are Galaxy Next Door, The Reason Why Raeliana ended up at the Duke's Mansion and Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts.  The latter of those has a fun set up combining qualities of Beauty and The Beast with the legend of the Minotaur.  Raeliana looks great and has great performances from the Dub cast.

So I'm currently following 10 shows, only 3 of which I'm watching Subbed.

Yuri is My Job is doing a good job at producing Memes for the Yuri Fandom.  Magical Destroyers features a very Rage Against the Machine inspired Magical Girl.  And Soaring Sky PreCure has kept me watching longer then any PreCure series since Hugtto which is good.

For the Simuldubs two second seasons for shows from the past that I've chosen to praise in defiance of pretention AniTubers, In Another World With My Smartphone and In/Spectre.  Each is mostly holding up to season 1 though for Smartphone some Dub recastings are bugging me a bit depending on the episode.

For the truly new shows, The Aristocrats Otherworldly Adventure is the most standard Isekai and so I'm not really gonna recommend it.  KamiKaitsu is that was fun from the start but really changes the Game with the reveals in Episode 5.  Dead Mount Deathplay is another addition to the genre of Anime staring Villains who aren't all that villainous.

Gundam: Witch From Mercury is in season 2 now and it's still pretty good, most Gundam isn't able to engage me, so this is proving to be special.

Tengoku Daimakyou is only officially known by that name even for the English Dub on Hulu but you may referred to sometimes as Heavenly Delusion.  For this I am gonna need Spoiler some things I what I want to say next.  But in-spite of the negatively  of the coming Rant overall the first 4 episodes of the show have been pretty good.

Isekai and Lesser Nobility

There were a lot more layers to the Feudal Class system then people realize.  Something like Game of Thrones tends to focus on the Royal Families and those that would be equivalents to Prince or Arch-Dukes or maybe even Dukes.

But below them are ranks like Marquess and Count/Earl which are often the titles claimed by those Pseudo Nobles of certain forgotten genres of 19th Century literature I've talked about before, as well as Vampires.  But further below them are ranks like Vicount, Baron and Baronet.  So it eventually gets to the point where depending on how wealthy or important the land you hold Peerage over is, holding that title may not actually make you anything more then the most famous person in your local area.

So I actually find it interesting that there is a subgenre of Isekai and Quasi-Isekai where the protagonist is born (or reborn) into one of these lesser Noble families.  My first exposure to this was the 8th Son show, but then I noticed it was a big part of Jobless Reincarnation as well as The Hidden Dungeon only I can Enter.  In that latter show just the difference between Baronet and Baron is treated as really significant to a degree I find kind of funny.

In Marxist terms I guess these kinds of Nobles were kind of the Feudal equivalent of the Petite bourgeoisie.  People who are nominally by the most technical definition part of the ruling or owning class, but Marx still considered their class interests ultimately aligned with the Proletariat even if they don't realize it.

I don't have anything profound to say about it, but it's interesting and maybe something Leftist Anime Fans more well read then I am should consider looking deeper into what they have to say about Class.
