DC TV fall 2016 reactions

I'm afraid I'm not likely to be regularly updateing my thoughts on the DC shows this season.  I shall share a few I have now.

I'm giving Gotham a second chance mainly for Jamie Chung, I love her.

Supergirl is still going strong, the first two episodes were perfect, the third was really great but I cringed at all the fawning over the President.

The Flash has me concerned, I've never been fond of Flashpoint and not just because of the New 52.

I stopped watching Arrow.

Legends is hit and miss still.

Pretty Little Liars, Season 7A

I enjoyed it, don't feel I have much else to say.

Spencer being Mary's kid is illogical, why then was it Aria's file stolen with Noel's?

I think ALi is lying about being Pregnant to get with Emily.  It came completely out of no where, and no I don't think that one scene of her puking is sufficient foreshadowing.

I know people are trying to deny that Toby is dead, but that steering wheel was embedded deep in his skull.

I think A.D. is Charlotte.

Aria and Noel Kahn are twin children of Mary Drake

If someone called this before me, I genuinely thought of it on my own.

I think Kenneth is Charlotte's father and Peter Hastings is Aria and Noel's father.

"But you ship Sparia and you just made Aria and Spencer sisters" I've shipped Incestuous Ships before.

Also the Aria is -A theorists are going to have a field day with this episode.

Let's ship ShowerThing

That's my main thoughts leaving the latest episode.

Sara Harvey's look in this episode had me thinking she could play a Live Action version of Gankusuou's Eugenie Danglars.

Next week it looks like A. D. may very well be going Fantomas.

I really want this Haleb/Spaleb triangle to end in a Threesome relationship

I know that seems like a lot to ask, but if any show on TV right now is unconventional enough to do it it's PLL.

And like BrosWatchPLLToo I have no desire to see Spoby back together.

#Spanaleb can be the Hashtag/Shipper Name.

That's not how Reincarnation works Haruka

But since you're a Christian in the old Anime I guess that's a concept you wouldn't get.

So are we supposed to assume Sailor Saturn destroyed Pharaoh 90's home world?

This was a good season, didn't disappoint.   But I still like the more drawn out approach of the old Anime better.

Looking back at my comments on the start of the season, I am bummed they put Naru in that episode just to forget about her.

The ending I assume is supposed to be setting up SupersS.  I probably won't still be doing these for that, I was never big on the SuperS arc.  I will probably return to doing these for Stars however.  And then I hope they go back and adapt the Codename Sailor V Manga.

I also think Eliot is being to be a relative of Wren.

Hotaru has become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds

I've been waiting for the episode that this title would fit.

A quote more famous for being quoted, but this context returns it to the original context, a deity taking the form of a God of Destruction.

This episode was awesome, tense and epic.

Two Holy Grails

That was a pretty good episode.  I apologies for skipping last week.

I kinda tend to have less to comment on as the action picks up and there are less fun character moments.

Early on I kinda thought "if I didn't know this was from a 90s comic I'd think there was a subtle 9/11 reference here".  Later I started suspecting similarities to the Trigon story-line from the 80s Teen Titans comics.

In the 90s Anime it was the Inner Senshi who created the barrier if I remember right.

The Witches 5 go one last round

Cyprine and Pitiol are doing the full Shining now.

The Foe Yay was strong in this episode.  Eudial pinned Mars down and I was like "that's hot" and then they all basically put their counterparts under an Enchantress spell.  Tellu remains my favorite going off Crystal.  Anyone not slashing the Witches with the Inners already should start now.

They switch to a Tuxedo Mask ending song right when the plot sidelines him.

Mistress 9 is fabulous.

I like CrunchyRoll's subtitles better then Hulu, they're bigger and automatic.  But why do their ad breaks have to be so random?  First one was during the opening theme song and the next was almost mid-sentence.  This was was written for television, it has designated ad break points.

Season 2 of The Flash

Spoiler Warning!!!!




Well I was wrong on the real Jay Garrick being a new actor.  It's fine, JWS fits the costume well.

I'm not fond of them ending with the Flashpoint set up.  I was really hoping the end of Season 1 meant we weren't going to go there.

It's not normal for me to say this, but the second really was inferior to the first.

I highly doubt they actually wrote the first 10-12 episode planning for that Jay to be Zoom.  And when they went there, it felt way to much to me like repeating the same basic "twist" of season 1, the mentor is the villain.

The show was still a lot of fun, unlike Arrow which has become indistinguishable from the film verse.

Haruka's Sword grew larger because of Usagi

Someone un-followed me on Twitter this week because they found my Sailor Moon Tumblr reblogs to be"Childish", I suppose this title won't help that.

Sailor Moon finally evolved into Super Sailor Moon.

Then we got our first taste of Mistress 9.

Then we got the whole Sailor Saturn backstory and exposition.  And I have a reference I'm holding off on.

And then we got full on Mistress 9.

This Episode was awesome.

So for two weeks now these Crystal reactions have been all I've done on this blog.  I'm gonna try to make up for that soon, this may not be the only post I make today.

And you can expect before the week is over my thoughts on Season 2 of the Flash, which I don't expect to be too articulate.

So that's why she has half of Usagi's hairstyle.

Also I think it's safe to say this Witch gets two episodes because she can split in two.

The Subs mishandled what Mirichu says about Haruka's gender.  The intent was not actually to make her sound Non-Binary.

This Witch can also repeat one of the Plagues of Exodus.

It occurred to me during the episode, I think the reason the Outers never become as close friends with Usagi is because they are so overly formal.  They see her as Princess Serenity first, while the Inners see her as Tsukino Usagi-Chan first.

I think DeviantArt will have fun with this episode, we got some some brief bondage and mind control.

Sailor Jupiter Vs Poison Ivy

So the Witch for this week I think was meant to be Makoto's counterpart.  I'm starting to question the logic of having the generals mirror in the Inner Shenshi when that is rarely relevant to how the battle goes down.  The theme this story-line seems to be the Outer Senshi sweeping in to save them like the Eagles of Manwe.

Makoto's current crush called her Sempai, so she is capable of being attracted to younger dudes.

Usagi is starting to crush on her future daughter's girlfriend, that's kinda funny.

Haruka was wearing a Miniskirt, about the last thing I expected.

Sailor Pluto makes her presence known right at the end.

So only one of the Witches 5 is left.

The Flash update

I've been saying there is a real Jay Garrick but he won't be played by the same actor.  And I thik the thing about Henry's mother's maiden name confirms that.

I think it's safe to say Wally and Jessie just became Speedsters.

I found the ending really compelling, then the preview shows Barry will be there next week.  I was hoping the show actually was going to spend awhile acting like Barry was really killed off.

Michiru-San goes all Jimmy Hendrix on her Violin

I hope all the remains episode are so easy for me to nickname.

Also Rei says half o the Legend of Zelda line.

I was reminded this episode how the Deathbusters arc is kind of the most Lovecrafting Sailor Moon Storyline.

People sometimes forget how much Sci-Fi is in Lovecraft's supernatural horror.  The idea of miniature sentient Universes is totally something he cold have thought of.  And the Daimons definitely have the right look.

Pharaoh 90 is either Azathoth or Yug-Sothoth, I can't decide which.

Ami suddenly goes all Ninja during Kaolinite's usually forgettable Mirror of Galadriel scene.  That really took me by surprise.

And Pluto is back at the end, yay.

But no Hotaru this week?????

The new closing theme was fun.

Mimete's five minutes of fame

Well the best of the Witches only got slightly more time to shine then Eudial.

Did everyone watching on Hulu get the same ads?  If so I feel like saying the Guillotine isn't medieval, it was invented during the French Revolution.

Quick, to the Mirichu Copter.

Making a Family Guy reference that was itself a Batman reference, I'm ultra Nerdy.  Yet I know Mirichus not Haruka owns the Helicopter only because I read it on SailorMoonWiki.

Next week the pretending Haruka is a man should end.

Animation style alone will make this far superior to the first 2 seasons.  But what I observed during season one about suffering from not having more time to develop the story remains the same I fear.

Hotaru is there from the start this time, but with only 13 episodes that doesn't really give her more time then she had in Sailor Moon S, and now they're establishing HaruMi at the same time.

But it supposedly worked in the Manga, I've only read the Sailor V Manga but that had more then 13 and didn't really have a story-line, it was purely stand alone episodic till they decided to end it.

The Flash Versus Zoom

This episode did a lot of stuff.

The Supergirl Crossover seems to have happened during it.

Zoom used Time Travel to create a duplicate.

I thought for a minute the Man in the Iron Mask was Zolomon's father.  Now I'm thinking he's the Real Jay Garrick.

And the Star Wars conversation mentioned the Midichlorenes, they showed respect unto the Prequels.

More Sailor Moon Crystal

I watched episode 29.

Usagi just straight up asks Haruka if she's a Sailor Gaurdian.

We've met the Professor now, they are setting up Hotaru's family dynamic slowly.

So is each Witch going to be killed off the first time they fight the Senshi?  That would suck.

I's read it claimed before that HaruMi have an open relationship.  I really didn't get that from the classic Anime, there was some ambiguous flirting going on but nothing really blatant.  Here however Haruka just straight up Kisses Sailor Moon on the mouth.

And while they're hoping uninformed viewers will be suspicious of them, they got Mirichu basically acting like a Femme Fatale towards Mamo.

I'd also read before that the Manga had ship tease for Hotaru with both Bunnies.  I'm not sure if I trust claim either.

Sailor Moon Crystal Act 28

When there's something strange, in your neighborhood, who you gonna call, DEATHBUSTERS.

It's official, I'm committed to following Season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal.

On the finale episode of Sailor Stars I will just it was awesome, perfect ending.

I notice they're not really the Secret Identity thing, among out Sailors anyway.

I didn't expect that the mistaking Haruka for a dude would go on so much longer.  And she seems to be intentionally living publicly as a guy.  It bugs me because it technically makes HaruMi not Openly gay, for the time being.  It's something that may have been normal for setting up a Lesbian couple in the 90s but seems kinda backwards now.

We see more of Hotaru, but I still don't think we heard her name yet.

And all the Witches 5 right away.  I'm kind of worries now if they'll have time to individualize them, I really loved the yellow one's gimmick in the old Anime.

We still haven't seen the Professor yet?  Interesting.

It was a fun episode I still highly recommend it.
