The Future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

This entire post is kind of a Spoiler for Infinity War so....

WARNING MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS INFINITY WAR AHEAD!!!!!!!

Some have already observed that all of the newest MCU Superheroes dissolved at the end of Infinity War, leaving us largely with just the original 6 Avengers. And speculated that Avengers 4 may be about the founders of the MCU sacrificing themselves for the future generation.

Meaning the title of this post has more meaning then just that it's about future movies.  One thing I like in Anime is how choosing the future over the past is often a theme, a Theme that TLJ rejected.

Indeed, Doctor Strange, the new Spiderman and Black Panther all just had their first solo films in phase three.  While Iron Man, Thor and Captain America have had complete trilogies.  Natasha is in an interesting place since there hasn't been a movie with Black Widow in the title much to the annoyance of people like myself, but she has appeared prominently in three non Avengers movies, and one could see Winter Solider, Age of Ultron and Civil War as a trilogy for the character.

This makes Ant-Man's absence from Infinity War all the more weird, but he unlike those we saw dissolve already, will have had his second film before Avengers 4 comes out.  My theory about Ant-Man and The Wasp is that it'll mainly be set between Civil War and Infinity War, but it's final after credits scene will show us what was going on with these characters when The Snap happened.  And fitting this theme I bet Scott and Hope will dissolve leaving Hank and Janet to join The Avengers to save them.

This makes the fact that Bucky dissolved interesting, does it mean the mantle of Captain America will be passed on to him as it has been in the Comics at least once?

I've decided to predict that of the core 3 original MCU heroes, it'll be Steve Rogers who dies, Tony will finally retire to start a family with Pepper and maybe still appearing in Spiderman movies, while Thor will get another movie since Rangnarok was kind of treated like a Reboot, hopefully Amora finally gets to appear in a film.

This puts the Guardians of The Galaxy in an interesting position, since they were the only new series to start during phase 2.  The fact that Rocket is the only Guardian left I found odd until I finally got around to watching Lindsay Elis video on GOTG 2 (it seems like every time I watch one of her videos it helps inspire a new Post on this Blog), and I noticed that Rocket is arguably the Guardian who's character arc is the most complete.  So could that mean........ I don't wanna go there.

One of the hints at GOTG 3 that 2 left us with is reason to expect newer songs to finally be used.  I hope they have an interesting variety.  I want to hear some Hip-Hop, some K-Pop and some Anime songs.  (If it actually features either a Ho-kago Tea Time song or the Pokemon theme I will totally Weeb out).  And I wouldn't mind Disney shoehorning in some Demi Lovato or Ashley Tisdale either.
